Bonded Sealants
Bonded sealants are an excellent way of repairing uncomplicated crown fractures. An uncomplicated crown fracture is a chip or defect in the enamel and possibly the dentin of the tooth, however the pulp chamber of the tooth is still protected. The fracture causes pain and discomfort for your pet even though they rarely show clinical signs. Pets can go back to feeling great, eating, drinking, and playing normally after a bonded sealant is performed.
Periodontal Therapy
This procedure is performed when there is bone loss from severe dental disease. Periodontal therapy helps to treat painful, infected areas and allows for tissue regeneration. If there is significant bone loss, a bone graft is placed.
Removal of Deciduous (baby) Teeth
It is very important to remove deciduous teeth if they are still in the mouth once the adult teeth come in. The deciduous teeth can cause increased amounts of tartar build-up as well as damage to surrounding structures.
Restorations (fillings)
A restoration corrects a loss of tooth structure caused by tooth decay, injuries, or disease. The tooth structure is replaced by a composite material leaving the tooth looking and feeling as good as new.
Performing restorations restores the tooth strength and ultimately, protects the canal of the tooth where the vein, artery and nerve live.
Bone Grafting
Bone grafting is performed when there is missing or diseased bone surrounding a healthy tooth. These problems are found when taking dental radiographs along with an oral exam performed by the veterinarian.
Root Canal and Crown
After a root canal is performed, crown placement is the next step. The pet gets a tooth impression, and a dental laboratory makes a custom crown to fit their tooth. These crowns are incredibly strong and allow for normal, and even rough, chewing.
Jaw Fracture Repair
Fractured jaws can occur for multiple reasons whether from trauma, disease, or infected teeth. Fractured jaw repairs allow for the jaw to heal properly, regain their jaw strength, and become pain free.
Gingival Hyperplasia
Gingival enlargement is a common disease in dogs. Special techniques are used to remove the excess tissue and prevent bone loss, gingivitis, pocketing, and discomfort. Performing this repair allows for your pet to chew normally and without pain.
Full Mouth Extractions
This is most common in cats with Stomatitis. Removing the teeth is currently the best treatment. Full mouth extractions are sometimes needed in pets with severe disease. Removing the teeth allows for healing and removal of pain and infection.
Orthodontic Manipulation
Performing orthodontic extractions allows for pets to bite down without causing trauma to surrounding tissues and teeth.
If there is severe wear, or attrition, to surrounding teeth, restorations can also be performed as seen in the canines in the after.
